Big Concerts

For this ambitious concert tour, we were briefed to build (what was then) the biggest staging rig brought to South Africa. We were tasked with ensuring a flawless replica of their 360° World Tour design.

With U2 returning to South Africa for the first time in almost 13 years, our objective was to deliver their cutting-edge stage design "in the round" by facilitating 3 simultaneous builds around the country. An incredible feat by any standards.

We would work strategically alongside U2's international touring crews to ensure every detail was spot-on and impeccable in producing a stage show that mirrored every other stop on their world tour.

• It was the first concert held at FNB Stadium opening the venue with a 98 000-person strong audience
• The show featured the Soweto Gospel Choir.
• Hugh Masekela joined U2 on trumpet during I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For.
• Pride's lyrics were modified in tribute to Nelson Mandela.
• It was the biggest paid concert that U2 had ever played (at the time) and also the biggest concert ever played in Africa.
• An incredible production from technical through to logistics.
